NSE CEO Advises Investors to diversify on their investment portfolios

The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Mr. Oscar Onyema has advised investors to diversify their portfolio in order to minimize losses, disclosing that the exchange would as from next year introduce derivatives into the market.

Speaking at the annual workshop of the Capital Market Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CAMCAN) in Lagos, Onyema said: “We always advise investors to diversify their portfolios across different assets classes to mitigate risks.”

According to him, the bear market should not been seen only from the negative perspective but also from the positive side, saying the bear run has thrown up some investment opportunities.

“However, it is important to do the analysis, understand where those opportunities are but certainly there are opportunities, not only in the equity side but across the various asset classes. We always advise investors to diversify their portfolios across different assets classes to mitigate risks,” he said.
