The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc recently celebrated 10 years of its operations in Ghana, one of the 18 country subsidiaries outside Nigeria in the UBA group.
UBA Ghana having opened its offices for business in 2005, has gone on to open successful subsidiaries in 17 more African countries.
Speaking on the significance of the celebrations, a statement yesterday quoted the Group Managing Director of the UBAGroup,Phillips Oduoza, to have said: “The opening of UBA Ghana in January 2005, represented UBA’s ambition of becoming the bank for Africans regardless of continent of residence."
Also speaking during the anniversary celebration, the Chairman of UBA, Mr. Tony Elumelu, said: “We do banking the way we do, because we want to unite Africa to the world."
Elumelu along with a delegation of UBA Ghana and UBA group board members were said to have had an audience with President John Mahama of the Republic of Ghana during which they held discussions on how the UBA Group could effectively partner with Ghanaian government in its aim of becoming the economic power house of Africa.
